- Vzal si Markétu Hlachovou, dceru velešínského "souseda" Víta HLACHA, od kterého zakoupili vlastní usedlost č.p.85, kde společně hospodařili a vedli menší hostinec "Na Hvízdalce " (Matouš si rád hvízdal a hrál na citeru).
Zátka byl povoláním bednář ve velešínském pivovaře, jeho manželka vedla hostinec a prodávala formanům krmení pro koně. Velešínem se tou dobou vozila sůl z Rakouska a koloniální zboží z italského Terstu, tudíž bylo v městečku rušno.

«/i»Married «b»Markéta Hlachová-Zátková «/b»«i» (June 5, 1766 «/i»- «i»June 7, 1849 in České Budějovice) «/i» on «i» October 5, 1799 «/i» in Velešín. She died of stroke at 73, still full 20 years before her husband. Parents of Markéta Hlachová were «b»Vít Hlach «/b»from Velešín and «b»Uršula «/b»(?). Allegedly they
were still illiterate. Matouš was a modest man content with the livelihood of his trade of barrel
making for the local brewery, and his ownership of an inn, provided. In all likelihood he would not
have left his native town on his own accord. However, his wife had an ambition to provide education for their children. She became instrumental in the decision to move the family in «i»1813
«/i»to a bigger and a more important town such as České Budějovice. There Matouš Zátka exhibited
a remarkable, hitherto untapped, talent for enterprise. He became a successful merchant and
businessman, dealing first in salt and later with other goods. He made a small fortune, which
allowed him to successfully invest in the town real estate. In spite of widespread Germanization
of the townsfolk, the family proudly kept their Czech character, though with some effort. They had
five children, all born in Velešín :

«/i»There is an interesting issue concerning nothing less than the very name of the «b»ZÁTKA «/b»family line«b». «/b»
According to the newly uncovered evidence it seems virtually certain that «b»ZÁTKA«/b» family bloodline is in fact a direct continuation of certain «b» Matěj VANĚČEK«/b» 's family«b». «/b» Here is how this happened :
The first documented bearer of «b» Zátka «/b»family name is «b»Matěj Zátka «/b»from Kamenný Újezd, a small town (likely a village at that time) about 10 km south of České Budějovice.
However, in the Land Registry of ČeskÝ Krumlov from «i»1603-1706 «/i» it is recorded that certain
«b»Matěj Vaněček«/b» in «i»1679 «/i» acquired properties #23 and #24 previously owned by certain «b»Zátka«/b», who
became indebted to «b»Vaněček«/b». With the acquisition of the land title this «b» Vaněček «/b»assumed the
name of the previous owner, i.e. «b»Zátka, «/b»which was tied to the title. Thus «b»Matěj Vaněček «/b» and
«b»Matěj Zátka «/b»was the «u»same person«/u». Apparently this was not an uncommon custom at that time.
However, the story is even more convoluted. «b»Matěj Vaněček «/b» was son (or grandson) of
«b»Václav "X"«/b» , whose original surname we do not know. «b» Václav "X" «/b» did exactly the same thing as
his son «b»Matěj «/b»did a generation later. By taking «b» Alžběta Vaněčková, «/b»a widow of certain «b»Štěpán
Vaněček «/b»for wife, «b» Václav «/b»"«b» X" «/b» married into the «b» Vaněček «/b» property and thus assumed in «i»1619 «/i» his wife's name «b»Vaněček «/b»tied to the title. As mentioned above, the family name of the patriarch
«b»Václav "X" «/b» is, and undoubtedly will remain, unknown.
Vlastimil Zátka, the author of the Narrative, concludes that the family name «b»ZÁTKA «/b»is thus the «b»«i»third «/i» name «/b»of the same family line. The «b»«i»first «/b»«/i» name, that of the patriarch «b» Václav "X" «/b» is «b» unknown«/b» , the «b»«i»second «/b»«/i»one is «b»VANĚČEK«/b» , while «b» ZÁTKA «/b» is only the «b»«i»third «/b»«/i» one. Notwithstanding these fascinating facts, will of course continue using the family name «b»Zátka «/b»will be used and followed here.
Another interesting issue is the freeman status of the «b» Vaněček-Zátka«/b» ancestors«i».«b» «/b»«/i» When
writing the main body of the Narrative,«b» Vlastislav Zátka, «/b»believed that «b» Zátkas «/b»were freemen,
allowed to move from one town to another at their will. They were unencumbered by serf duties,
for at least 150 years before the abolishment of servitude in the Austrian Empire in «i»1848«/i». In fact,
this period was shorter. The oldest Record of Serfs at the Český Krumlov fiefdom from «i»1576 to 1702«/i» , for the year «i»1702 «/i» includes the names of «b» Matěj Vaněček«/b», his wife «b»Mariana «/b»and their
children, daughter «b»Juliana «/b» 20 years old, daughter «b» Alžběta «/b»18 years old, son «b» Blažej «/b»16 years old (in fact 19 by dates), and a 14 year old son «b»Pavel«/b», who became a priest. «b» Blažej Vaněček«/b», his 29-year old wife and his son «b»Šimon «/b»are still listed as «u»serfs«/u» in 1712. However, when this «b»Šimon Vaněček«/b», a taylor, married a widow «b»Rosina Zwettler «/b»of Velešín he needed a dispensation to be released from serfdom by the owner of the domain Princess Schwarzenberg, in order to be allowed to move to Velešín. Upon the intercession of the burgomaster of the town of Velešín and his
brother «b»Pavel, «/b»who was a parish priest, the exemption was granted in «b»«i»May 1738. «/b»«/i» From that date
«b»Vaněček-Zátkas «/b» were indeed freemen.
